Black Body Radiation (white light spectrum)

Please use the hot box as the lamp source for viewing the visible spectrum through a prism.  Ensure you are using the two polished surfaces on the prism for the refraction.

Plug the projector (hot box) into a variac and vary the voltage to the projector to see the spectrum as temperature changes.  The Leitz projector can also be used, but please note the spectrum is shifted towards the red. This demo is sometimes used with coloured filters.
