Current Produced in a Coil by Current Carrying Coil (Faraday's Law)
Description:
Commercial inductor coils used for this experiment are located in Rm. 101. These coils fit onto a U-shaped rectangular core. 1. Connect one coil to the power source, another coil to the galvanometer. 2. To insure close coupling insert an iron bar between them. 3. Turn on and ramp up the DC gradually (maximum 6VDC). 4. Observe the galvanometer deflect and then decay to zero. 5. Next disconnect power and observe the needle deflect in the opposite direction and then return to zero. |
