ECG
Also known as EKG, this is the Electrocardiogram demonstration. There are more of these units in the upper year labs.
Setup:
- Connect ECG amplifier to oscilloscope
- Connect amplifier to handles / electrodes
- Turn oscilloscope on. Settings: AC coupling, BW limit 20MHz, Volts/Div 500mV, Seconds/Div 250mS
- Turn on amplifier
- Hold both electrodes firmly in each hand and a steady heartbeat pattern should appear on oscilloscope
Historical setup & instructions:
Setup:
1. Connect as shown in diagram
2. Turn on amplifier and set D.C. power supply to +/- 15 Volts
3. Hold both electrodes firmly in each hand and a steady heartbeat pattern should appear on CRO
4. Increase gain on microphone input (after 2 minutes warm up) until a single bed is heard.
5. A continual beeping means that the microphone gain is too high.
To operate:
1. Hold both electrodes firmly in each hand
2. Observe heartbeat trace on C.R.O.
3. simultaneously a beep will be heard
