This demonstration uses the Bicycle Wheel with a loop and a metal chain with swivel ends. Fasten the chain to the loop on the bike wheel Hang the bike wheel on a bar held up by two retort stands (or use a longer chain to hang the wheel from the support beams in the lecture room ceiling, if available) Spin the bicycle wheel and release it at an angle slightly above horizontal Observe the precession Spin the wheel in the opposite direction
