Mega Flywheel
A demo illustrating moment of inertia and torque.
Type of activity: demo
Activity code: 00000
Description:
This demonstration clearly illustrates Inertia as a"resistance to a change in rotational motion", or a rotational analog to linear mass.
A very heavy flywheel is mounted on a table, and a string is attached to the wheel. Masses of various sizes are attached to the wheel, which slowly accelerates as the weight of the mass acts as a torque on the wheel.
Technical Specs:
Wheel + Base + Axel Weight ~ 30kg Wheel Diameter ~ 25cm Wheel thickness ~ 7cm
All Steel Construction.
Warning: This object is quite difficult to lift due to its weight and awkward shape. Wear steel toed boots when handling.
