Newton's Rings 2

1. Arrange apparatus as shown. 
2. Center Newton's rings in holder using 3 screws. 
3. Focus the rings by transmission using 8.5 inch lens. 
4. Beside it project the reflected image of the rings. 
5. Rings that appear dark via transmission will be light by reflection. 

Method:
1. Turn on projector.
2. With 3/4 inch hole in carrier observe the rings projected onto the screen by transmission. 
3. Also observe the reverse image produced by the reflected image of mirror (i.e., the dark rings appear light and vice versa). 
4. Move interference filter across the light source. 
5. Observe the apparent motion of the rings as the colours are varied.
