Type of activity: demo
Activity code:  Me-043b

Description:

Demonstrates concepts of inertia (for gases too!)

Air-filled balloon
1) Tape balloon to the top panel (underside) of the plastic enclosure so that it hangs freely when the enclosure is upright.
2) Place enclosure on the trolley, wait for balloon to settle
3) Accelerate trolley and observe the movement of the balloon with respect to the enclosure and the trolley's direction of travel.

Helium Balloon
1) Tape Helium balloon on trolley
2) Tie the styrofoam ball to the bolt on the top panel of the enclosure
