Also known as slinky on a stand
- To send a signal wave - move plunger in and out once
- To show the interference of a transmitted and reflected wave - move the plunger back and forth twice at 1/2 second intervals
There was historically a motor that goes with this demonstration.
For standing waves (with motor)
- Connect bell wave machine crank via thread to slinky
- Use variable A.C. control box for speed adjustment
- Turn on motor and allow transient to diminish
- Adjust speed of motor and observe the various modes.
(Allow speed and number of modes to stabilize)
